Google updates PageSpeed Insights to version 5


PageSpeed Insights v5

Google announced today that they have released a new version of their ever so important page speed tool PageSpeed Insights which is now using Lighthouse as its analysis engine as well as incorporating field data provided by the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX). The updated version also provides new visuals and rather than focusing on TTFB (time to first byte) like many other tools, Google puts forward FCP (first contentful paint) as a more user oriented metric as the rendering of the actual content is what matters to the end user. The new scores generated with the update version of the tools can differ wildy from scores generates with previous version of the PageSpeed Insights.
